Located 6 miles from the Trotternish Ridge and 9 miles from the Cuillin Hills, Bayview House is ideally situated for walking and climbing enthusiasts.
To the north there are excellent walks to the Old Man of Storr and on a bigger scale, The Quiraing. Boat trips operate from Portree Harbour (keep an eye out for Sea Eagles fishing in the bay). The Aros Centre on the outskirts of town has a wonderful exhibition on the local birdlife as well as a cinema/theatre, art gallery, café, shop and play area for younger visitors.
There are two riding stables nearby and an outdoor activity centre just 30 minutes away.
To the west is Dunvegan Castle, ancestral home of the clan MacLeod.
A fortified structure has stood on this site for over 1000 years.
Those who enjoy a dram will want to visit Talisker Distillery while beer fans should stop off at the Isle of Skye Brewery in Uig.
